2. FIRST ANNOUNCED SINGER

This year The Netherlands were the first country announcing the singer, who will represent the country and try to get the ticket to the final.

Douwe Bob, the 23 years old singer will represent his country and try to repeat a victory as participant at a song writer contest. He already did in 2012 winning the dutch version of a singer-song writer show. His musical work started in 2013 with his debut album „Born in a storm“. Douwe is also known to the readers of our website, being ranked in our weekly charts. That was possible because of his beautiful duet with the former dutch eurovision participant Anouk.

You need Adobe Flash Player to view this content.

Perhaps it was the work with Anouk and she telling him about her personal experiences at Eurovision 2013 which brought him to take this chance.

And Douwe also mad an other special Eurovision connection during this week.
He met the winner of the 60th Eurovision Song Contest Mans Zelmerlow, who was for a concert in Amsterdam.

Perhaps he got some insights how to be able to win the biggest song writer contest in the world.

3. BIG 5 AND HOST MORE PROMINENT IN SEMI FINAL

Also this year the big 5 and the host will be pre-qualified for the Grand Final.

In the last years the Big 5 and the host singer used to be presented during the voting break. That meant that some broadcasters wouldn‘t show it.

But comparing with the other participants the Big 5 beside having the advantage of being automatically qualified, also had dis-advantages:
  • Video clip instate of the performance of saturday
  • less time for rehearsals
This year it will change and during the semi finals the EBU will allow to show videos of the dress rehearsals one day before. At the end it means that the Big 5 and the host country will get more time for rehearsals as well.

More details will be released in the future and Eurovision on top will update you about that. Since now it is just clear, that Germany will be presented in the second semi final.
