Those who expect to see a Portuguese audience in the ESC may be mistaken. RTP president Gonçalo Reis said Monday that 72% of the tickets for Eurovision, which runs in May in Lisbon, went to the international market, in a total of 80 countries.
Asked about how the sale of Eurovision tickets is taking place, the president of RTP said that it is being a "huge success". Normally, he said, "the standard of tickets in Eurovision is 70% for the domestic market," according to the latest editions of the event.
"At the Eurovision in Lisbon 2018, international demand has already exceeded 72%, we sell tickets to 80 countries," said the manager. These data demonstrate "the interest, the projection that this event will have", which translates into "a great opportunity for Portugal, for the music industry and for Lisbon". Lisbon will be the stage for the semi-finals and final of the Eurovision competition, which Portugal won in the last edition, which corresponds to "a whole week of big events".
Next 5th of April the last round of tickets will go on sale.
