The 13th edition of Junior Eurovision Song Contest 2015 will take place in Arena Armeec in Sofia, Bulgaria, next saturday. This will be the first time that the Bulgarian national broadcaster, Bulgarian National Television (BNT), are organising an Eurovision event after reaching the second place last year in the junior contest.
Seventeen countries will participate, with Australia and Ireland making their debut at the 2015 contest. Albania and Macedonia will return while Croatia and Cyprus withdraws. Sweden, the winner of the senior Song Contest this year, will be withdrawing for the first time since 2008.
Participants and running order:
Georgia, Malta and Slovenia seemed to be the favourite to win.
Norway: an internal product
Last week, Universal Music Group released the CD containing all the songs of Junior ESC. Interesting fact is that the CD from the Melodi Grand Prix Junior from Norway is number 4 in the official Album Charts of the scandinavian country.
The Melodi Grand Prix Junior was the anual event and format used to select the entry for Junior Eurovision when Norway took part on it Between 2003 and 2005, before NRK decided to withdraw from the contest.
Also interesting is the fact that MARCUS & MARTINUS, the winners of MGP Junior from 2012 hitted the album charts at number 1. Definitely, Norway adopted the supposed national final of Junior for internal consumption.
Bulgaria placed second last year and Italy was the previous winner.
