New album for Ott Lepland

Posted by Eurovision On Top on August 10, 2015 at 10:35 AM Comments comments (0)

Ott Lepland, the Estonian representative at the ESC 2012, is back with a new album. "Siinpoolne" was released on May 21, 2015.

"Siinpoolne" is Ott Lepland's 4th album and just like the previous efforts it is released by Crunch Industry and produced by Danel Pandre. Since the release of Ott's debut self-titled album (2010) we've been witness Lepland's devolvement as a composer. Thus following the trend of "Öö mu kannul käib" Ott himself writes the big majority of his own material.

Besides that Ott Lepland embarked on his July tour entitled "Taevas puutub maad" (Heaven touches the ground) which will lead him to 8 churches around Estonia.

Although "Siinpoolne" is a brand new album it contains some songs that the readers of "Eurovision on Top" knows quite well, especially the seconds single, "Jäädagi nii". We recall you that "Jäädagi nii" ended up at #1 on our Annual Chart 2014. In went on in January 2015 managing two weeks more at #1 becoming the video with more weeks at #1 ever on the weekly chart "EOT-TOP 20".

Debut album by Elina Born

Posted by Eurovision On Top on July 2, 2015 at 12:45 AM Comments comments (0)

"Elina Born" the self-titled debut album by Elina Born (half of the duo that represented Estonia at the ESC 2015) was released on May 26, 2015.

Although the album includes "Goodbye to Yesterday" the whole picture seems to be more pop than the Eurovision entry. Nonetheless Stig Rästa is one of the main forces behind "Elina Born". The debut album includes her previous singles "Enough", "Miss Calculation" and "Mystery". Actually "Enough" was one of one the songs that reached the final of "Eesti Laul 2013" so it is a good surprise for the Euro fans.

Internationally Elina Born is presented as the runner up of "Estonian Idol 2012"; winner of "Eesti Laul 2015" and finalist of the Eurovision Song Contest 2015.

Here is Elina's first single, the 2013 Eesti Laul Finalist, "Enough".

"Goodbye to Yesterday" represented Estonia at the Eurovision Song Contest 2015 ending at the 7th place among 40 entries. It charted in many European countries including a top 10 in Estonia and Austria.

Stig & Elina: After Eurovision we will release Elinas debut album

Posted by Pedro.Eurovisionontop on May 11, 2015 at 1:00 AM Comments comments (0)
This year Estonia sends a romantic song sang by a strong duo to the Eurovision. They started as a link of favorite. After that it became a bit silent around them and at the moment nobody know, if they will be able to be kind of the big surprise as The Common Linnets in 2014 or if they get lost in the score board.

What we know is that the duo is a strong combination of a very good known estonian song writer and a very talented estonian singer. Eurovision on top had the chance to speak to both and get some answers about who they are and what there targets are.

1. Elina Born would you like to introduce yourself to our readers? Who is Eiina?

I’m a simple girl who likes to express her feelings through music.

2. Stig Rästa would you like to introduce yourself to our readers? Who is Stig?

I am a singer-songwriter from Estonia :)

3. Elina, you started your musical career at the estonian version of idol the „Eesti otsib superstaari“. What was the idea in 2012 to participate at that casting show? And what was the contribution to your musical career?

I just wanted to know how far can I get. Of course I got a lot of experience and courage from there.

4. Stig, you are a known song writer in Estonia and were a co-writer of the amazing estonian song of 2013. What is the attraction of the Eurovision Song Contest for you? It is a possibility to introduce my music to a much wider audience. Why did you this year decided to participate again? And first of all singing by yourself?

As the song was written a couple of years ago as a duet we thought with Elina that maybe we should sing it together.

5. Elina, it seems that Eurovision is used more and more by former „Idol“ and „The Voice“ candidates as a second chance for their musical career. What do you think about that theory?

I would not say that it is “a second chance”. It is always a fantastic opportunity to introduce yourself to a wider audience. Also, representing Estonia is a big honour.

6. Elina what is the story behind your participation at the Eurovision? Did you have a special link to that contest in the past?

I always enjoyed watching the ESC when I was a kid.

7. Stig, you as song writer, what do you think about the Eurovision Song Contest. What is good and what should be improved?

It is good that people have the chance to come and show what they can do. I, personally, liked the songs with the orchestra. Maybe they could bring back the orchestra?

8. What were the reasons for you to decide to work together with Elina?

I found her on Youtube and saw the potential in her.

9. Elina, what would you say what is the most irritating thing about Stig?

Sometimes I tell him a long story and after the story he realizes I was talking to him!

10. Stig, what would you say what is the most irritating thing about Elina?

She sometimes tells me such long stories that I forget the start of the story :)

11. Stig, what is the story behind the song and the message you want to send to Europe?

The song overall is about a love story gone bad. But it should be a timeless piece of music which will hopefully be in the memories for many-many years.

12. What are your objectives for Eurovision?

To give the best performance we can.

13. The eurovision celebrates the 60th birthday this year and hosted a greatest hits show in april. What is your all time greatest hit and favorite? And with whom would you like to record a single?

Elina: From my childhood I remember being an absolute fan of Ruslana’s performance of “Wild Dances”. And also the Turkish winning entry by Sertab Erener.
Stig: I think one of my favourites is “Solo” by Alsou.

14. Do you already have any plans afterwards Eurovision?

After the Eurovision we will be going back home and releasing Elina’s debut album!

Eurovision on top as usually will follow them not just in Vienna but also afterwards and you will know all the news about Elina‘s debut album.

Singing nation decision is a "Goodbye to yesterday"

Posted by Pedro.Eurovisionontop on February 21, 2015 at 2:40 PM Comments comments (0)

Estonia was the first of the three Baltic nations, who won the Eurovision Song Contest and started the decade in the contest’s history, where a lot of eastern nations won and hosted the contest.

This night in Tallinn the winner of last year Tanja opened the final gala of Eesti Laul with a remix version of her song of last year. During the evening there were 10 modern acts fighting for the ticket to Vienna.

Once again the quality of the national final was very high. This fact isn’t very surprising regarding to the fact being in the so called singing nation. The land of beautiful voices and beautiful women showed to Europe the passion they have for good music and songs.

The final decision was made out of the best three acts and at the end the ticket to Vienna won:
Elina Born and Stig Rästa with "Goodbye to yesterday"

If the singing nation will also win the votes of the rest of the European countries and down under or not, will be seen in May. Eurovision on top will also follow this entrée and inform you about the results they will make.
